Welcome Sam!
Sam is here and we couldn't be happier or more in love with this little guy. We had him Thursday. We was 6 lbs 11 oz and 19 inches. He has been a sweet cuddly little baby.
Thursday was kind of crazy. I had a scheduled induction that day. Because I am diabetic there is a higher risk of stillbirth, so they induce 2-3 weeks early if the baby is ready. I had an amniocentisis that morning to see if he was ready and the test showed that he wasn't, so they sent me home and told me to wait a week. I called my doctor's office to schedule an appointment for next week and they suggested that I go to the hospital just to get checked. I was at a 5 and 90% effaced and in early labor, so they decided to go ahead with the induction. I guess there was little risk of him having problems even though the amnio said it was too early. They broke my water at 4:00, started petocin at 5:00, and he was here right before 6:00. It went really smoothly and he was breathing great and was strong and healthy. The epidural started kicking in at 5:30 which was just in time, except it didn't work on the right side and I thought I was going to die. I admire any of you who have done this without medication, I was really glad I was at least half numb.

Oh he's so cute! From these pictures he looks like a Miller baby. I'm so glad things went smoothly for you...other than the epidural only working on half! I also am very grateful for medication, and give serious props to those who do it without. That means you get 1/2 serious props since you were 1/2 without... ;) congrats! oh, p.s. the other night at a friend gathering I sang our They Might Be Giants song. Remember screaming it at the top of our lungs on the ski lifts??? good times.
So cute! I'm glad that the delivery went smooth and fast, but most importantly that he is strong and healthy. You definitely missed the most painful part of the delivery, but not by much! Wow, they were cutting it close with the epidural.
Congratulations Mike and Ash! He is a cutie. I'm glad everything went well, and fast too...that's great. Take care of yourself.
Ash, Congrats. I just heard. I was out of town and just got back. I would love to come visit. I am glad everything went so well and he is here. Sorry, about only being numb on half of your body. Can't wait to meet Sam
Congratulations! Glad he is here safely. No women should ever go without medication! I barely got mine in time with both, and it's a miracle I still want any more! :) Congrats again!
YEA!!!! CONGRATS! He is so cute!
Sure love you!
He looks darling! Congrats. I am glad all is well.
Congratulations, Ashley! Wow, Four kids! You're are an iron-freakin woman! Best wishes with the new baby.
I am so glad that you guys are doing well. He is really cute. Congrats!
Congrats! We haven't visited yet because the boys are still sick. Sorry. We are thinking of you! Hope you have help, if not call me!

First, this comment has nothing to do with Sam (who is fantastic by the way!). It must be asked. When and how did you become such the cooking connoisseur? For a while now I have been boggled by your cookie blog! I demand lessons! :) Seriously, I think it's fantastic, and I've got to try some of those recipies!
Ah! Are you kidding me? That is my worst fear when delivering. I have heard so many people say their epideral did weird stuff like that and when you aren't prepared for the pain- yikes!
I am so glad to see he is here and doing great. He is beautiful Ashley and so are you! Congratulations!
