Crazy Summer!

I knew this summer was going to be busy, but this is nuts! We found out we're going to have another baby in the begining of June and are very excited about that. I've been a bit sick but not too bad. We've had some fun reunions and a sad funeral. I'll post reunion pictures another time.
Last week I went in for my first doctor's appointment and they found sugars in my urine. I went to get a glucose test the next day and found out I have type 1 diabetes. I had some subtle signs of it before becoming pregnant so it is probably a condition I'll have the rest of my life. The day I found out they admitted me to the hospital and started my on insulin. The baby has twice the chance of a birth defect than a normal pregnancy because of untreated diabetes. There is still only a 6-8% chance of a birth defect, so we are hopeful. There are three serious defects they will look for at my 20 week ultrasound: spina bifida, a heart defect, or a problem in the lower spine. I am 10 weeks right now, so in 10 weeks we should know a lot more.
They are monitoring me closely and I went in for an ultrasound yesterday. The baby looks great and is growing right on schedule. However, they found a mass by my ovary which they are pretty sure they will have to remove and probably remove the ovary. They won't know if it's cancerous until surgery which will happen at 14 weeks.
I am adjusting to the diabetes just fine and didn't have to change anything in my lifestyle other than pricking my finger and giving myself shots. It's already starting to feel normal. This week has really made me grateful for my many wonderful blessings, and shown me again that we are always in the Lord's hands.

I hope everything goes alright for ya. Keep us posted. I love you!

WOW girl! Lots of changes! Congrats on your pregnancy! We will pray for you and your baby's health. So they don't think the mass is just some cyst? We shall talk more Thursday.

It is so true. We really are in God's hands. Only he knows what he has in store for us on this earth. I miss a few weeks and look at what news you have. First off Congratulations! I can't believe another baby. Diabetes, my grandma has had forever and I ask her how do you prick your finger allt he time. She says she just gets used to it and it sounds like you are already starting to feel that way.
I hope I can see you soon. I hope all goes well with the pregnancy and I will keep you guys in my prayers. Love you Ash!
